Before industrialisation and widespread availability of electricity, daily life was restricted to natures daily light-dark cycle. The introduction of electric lighting led to changes in our environment and the way we interact throughout the day.
Nowadays we’re spending 90% of our time indoors, and as a result, we are exposed to a great deal of artificial light, and low access to natural daylight which in turn can have a detrimental impact on our health. This has had a profound impact on our physiology considering that light is the strongest environmental cue regulating the body’s circadian rhythms.
